International Foundation Diploma

A one-year programme equivalent to A Levels and Intermediate, the IFD offers a direct pathway to over 150 institutions globally and locally, including international degree programmes at Denning. The curriculum includes core modules such as Developing English Language Skills, Mathematics for University Study, Research and Study Skills, and English for Academic Purposes. Students can also choose elective modules like Introductory Accounting, International Business, Introductory Economics, Further Mathematics, Computer Science and Programming, and Law for University Students. The programme emphasizes a holistic learning environment with exams and assignment-based assessments.

The International Foundation Diploma (IFD) awarded by the NCC is considered equivalent to completing Higher Secondary School Certifcate (Humanities). Students who complete the IFD awarded by the NCC will be eligible to receive equivalency from IBCC for HSSC (Humanities).

Core Modules

It equips learners to communicate fluently and accurately, both verbally and in writing. It focuses on speaking confidently on various topics, comprehending diverse texts, writing structured and descriptive pieces, and employing effective listening strategies for different types of conversations and presentations in English

The module equips students with essential language skills to succeed in academic settings. Through various reading and listening strategies, students comprehend academic texts and presentations, expanding their academic vocabulary and mastering sentence and paragraph structure for academic writing. Additionally, they refine speaking skills to fluently discuss academic topics, while developing critical reasoning abilities to analyze arguments systematically.

The module provides a foundational understanding of number theory, algebra, geometry, statistics, and probability. Students learn to solve algebraic equations, geometric problems, and statistical analyses, while developing critical thinking skills to apply mathematical concepts in various contexts and effectively communicate mathematical information through interpretation, deduction, and graphical representation.

The module empowers students to become efficient learners, excel academically, and produce high-quality academic work at university level. It covers strategies for understanding unfamiliar content, academic writing processes, drafting techniques, and research methodologies. Additionally, students learn critical reasoning skills to analyze arguments, solve problems systematically, and navigate the complexities of research contexts effectively

Elective Modules (Any 5)

This module introduces students to the fundamentals of management accounting and its significance in facilitating sustainable business operations and decision-making processes. Students learn to analyze financial statements to assess business performance, interpret financial concepts related to assets and liabilities, apply accounting principles to ownership interests, and conduct ratio analysis calculations. Additionally, they explore principles and issues surrounding corporate performance reporting and cash flow reporting

This module delves deeper into mathematical principles, emphasizing algebra’s role in generalizing mathematical reasoning across various contexts. It covers coordinate geometry, sequences, series, various types of equations and functions (including trigonometric, logarithmic, and exponential functions), calculus techniques (differentiation, integration), vectors, matrices, numerical solutions, differential equations, and complex numbers. Students learn to apply these concepts effectively in problem-solving and analytical contexts

The module provides a comprehensive understanding of global business dynamics, emphasizing the role of businesses in society and the importance of enterprise, objectives, structure, and stakeholders, including multinational corporations. It explores people and culture in international organizations, analyzing contemporary issues and management theories. Additionally, it covers international marketing strategies, operations management, finance, and addresses cultural, political, economic, social, technological, legal, environmental, and ethical challenges in international business, guiding the formulation of international business strategy.

The module provides a comprehensive understanding of fundamental concepts in hardware and software, including data representation and computer networks. It explores cultural, ethical, and legal issues in computing. The module introduces Python programming, enabling students to design programs, analyze data, and solve problems using computational thinking, programming techniques, and algorithms effectively.

This offers a foundational understanding of microeconomic theory, covering supply and demand principles, individual, firm, and industry behaviors. Students learn to evaluate and analyze microeconomic arguments, theories, and policies concerning the price system critically. Additionally, the module focuses on developing quantitative skills to apply analytical models in economic applications effectively.

This module provides an introduction to key legal concepts, terms, and processes in England and Wales, offering insights into professional practice and workplace law. It covers the types of law, validity, and enforceability, analyzing legal obligations, rights, and terms through legal reasoning and critical evaluation. Additionally, students learn essential skills for effective legal practice, including language use, drafting client care documents, and conducting client interviews and communications, enhancing critical thinking, decision-making, and professional conduct

The Denning International Foundation College offers public speaking as a foundational course within its Skill Development Curriculum (SDC). This course is designed to equip students with essential communication skills necessary for success in various aspects of life, including academics, professional endeavors, and personal interactions.

In the Denning International Foundation College’s Skill Development Curriculum (SDC), IT Skills are integrated to equip students with essential digital competencies. Through hands-on training, students learn to navigate software tools, utilize digital resources, and develop proficiency in areas such as coding, data analysis, and information management, preparing them for the digital age.

As part of our foundation program, students can earn two City & Guilds certifications per year, which will be free of cost.

What is the duration of the program?

Duration of the program is 1 year.

Yes, the Foundation Diploma is internationally recognized as equivalent to A Levels and is also locally recognized by the IBCC.

The IFD Program includes 6 modules: Developing English Language Skills, English for Academic Purposes, Mathematics for University studies, International Business, Introduction to Accounting and Economics, Research and Study Skills for University studies, Introduction to Economics and Introduction to Programming (Python). The modules run from September to June and students also participate in skill development workshops throughout the year to enhance their analytical skills.
The IFD Program focuses on developing students; vocational skills, such as English language, writing, drafting, speaking and analytical skills. It prepares students for undergraduate programs at local and foreign universities at Denning. The program is designed for students who have completed their O Levels, Intermediate and Matric studies.
